Heartland Health Services is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center that provides primary care, women’s health, pediatrics, mental health, addiction recovery, specialty services, discount prescriptions, and after-hours care to patients across Central Illinois.
Our first clinic was built on the dedication of volunteers, with just one paid staff member. Physicians, specialists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and clerical staff all gave their time and expertise to care for patients in need. Supplies and equipment were generously donated, and Peoria’s three hospitals supported the clinic by providing diagnostic testing and inpatient services at no cost to patients, rotating monthly to share the responsibility.
From the beginning, our focus has been on serving communities with the greatest need—low-income adults and children, minority populations, people without adequate insurance, those facing medical hardship, and individuals experiencing homelessness across Peoria and the tri-county region. This commitment to providing care without barriers remains at the core of our mission today. Heartland continues to receive strong support from local healthcare systems, medical schools, community partners, and businesses, allowing us to carry this mission forward.
Dedicated to our community, Heartland strives to provide preventive and specialty care tailored to our patients’ needs while working to improve the overall health of Central Illinois. With ten locations right in the neighborhoods we serve, Heartland is truly at the heart of each community. Beyond healthcare, we serve as a hub for community resources that empower patients and address social and health disparities.
Heartland serves patients of all ages, ensuring access to care for those who are uninsured or have limited financial means. True to our mission as the “Heart of the Community,” Heartland Health Services is a trusted source of healthcare and support throughout Peoria and Tazewell Counties.
